Kara Wells pushed through the heavy doors to Landon Hall, sliding her oversized Salvatore Ferragamo sunglasses on top of her golden brown head. She scanned the room with her emerald eyes, smiling at her friends and waving at people. Kara did miss her friends at Epson but she would have much rather been in California. She was there visiting her parents for the summer and decided to stay longer since nothing ever went on the first weeks of school. Her flow-y, earth toned Chloe skirt swished around as she made each step to her usual spot with her friends. She pulled up the strap of the plain white YSL tank top she was wearing that showed off her sun kissed glow she got over the summer. She pushed away her beach-y waves and waved at her Channing dorm mates who were at the table next to hers.

Derrick came strolling in as usual, getting his daily dose of attention from the majority of Epson's girls. He gave his charming smile and nodded at some of them while walking through the hall. He really didn't plan on talking to any of them today. He just decided he'd take a break from it today. Nevermind. Someone caught his attention. They weren't calling him, nor even looking at him though. That didn't stop Derrick.
He walked over to the table now and sat down next to Kara. He met her before but never had the chance to really talk to her. "Well hello there beautiful lady. I'm sure you remember me. I was just thinking that maybe you would like to go out on a date with yours truly." Some of the other girls at the table were giving an envious look at Kara.

Kara was laughing with her friends when Derrik Black- a boy in her grade sat down beside her. Kara looked at the cocky grin on his face and resisted the urge to scoff. Kara decided to play along with it and she smiled sweetly.
"Of course I remember you... How could I forget?"
She said, smiling.
"You're that guy who walks around thinking he is the best thing on this planet and you degrade women with your objectifying ways, thinking that it makes them want you, when in reality, it just makes you more despicable then you already are."
Kara said, looking at him. She turned her head to look at her food, anything was more interesting than this hot shot. Her friends gasped, as if they couldn't believe that Kara had just said that to him.
"As for the date... Not even if you were the last man on Earth."
She didn't turn to look at his reaction, she couldn't care less.

Derrick was a little taken back on that response. That was a first for him. He sat there and sort of stared blankly at the table for a moment trying to regather his thoughts. He opened his mouth to speak... but couldn't find words to put together. Again he just sat there thinking. Then he smiled again. "Oh... I get it." He nodded and laughed a little. "You're just playing hard to get. You really know how to get my attention. That's alright though, I like the feisty ones. So... about that date. What are you in the mood for tonight?"

Kara rolled her eyes and felt offended that he thought she was playing hard to get. Kara turned to look at him.
"Are you deaf? or just an idiot."
She asked, scoffing.
"Don't answer that, it's rhetorical."
She sighed and looked at him.
"Three words: In. Your. Dreams."
She grabbed her Zac Posen tote and stood up, the chair scraping against the floor. She said good-bye to her friends and turned around, not looking back to look at Derrik Black once.

He just smiled at her as she attempted to again reject him. Derrick was never really rejected before, so he didn't truly understand what was going on. He tilted his head a bit and looked at her, a little confused. "Well..." Before he could say anything she had stood up and was leaving.
"Yeah... well... uh... Call me!?" He smiled at her as she started to leave. He wasn't all too sure what he was supposed to do now. Normally this was easy. Was he supposed to follow her? No... Girls always followed him. He just sighed and sat there watching her. He waited for her to turn around and come running back to him. He knew she would.

Kara pushed through the giant Landon Hall doors once more and exited the dining hall. She was angry because Derrick was so full of himself. He thought every girl wanted to be with him and that she was easy. Kara Wells was not easy and she wasn't just some girl. She walked down the halls, trying to forget how dreamy his light blue eyes were and how cute his wavy brown hair was. She shook her head. Eww, Kara, he is just an idiot wanting to get in your pants, you so don't need that, She said to herself as she made her way down the halls, and headed out the building.

Derrick just sat there watching her, but his look became different as she actually left. He was quite shocked now. Did she really just walk away and reject him? No girl has ever rejected him before. Some other girls were calling him, but he didn't really notice. He was too busy trying to figure out what had happened. What was he supposed to do now? He didn't want to just give up though. Derrick didn't give up, that wasn't who he was. However, no girl had ever rejected him before, and no girl had ever gotten his attention like Kara had now.
He got up finally, still looking shocked. After he finally regathered his thoughts he started heading for the doors. Maybe she was just outside the doors waiting for him. He opened the doors and stepped outside. She wasn't anywhere to be found. He just stood there now, totally lost.
