A sigh escaped Della's soft pink lips as she trotted exhaustedly into the student lounge, after receiving an IM from Cayden telling her he needed to talk to her as soon as possible. She had no clue as to what he needed to talk to her about, but figured it had to be something to do with Noelle and Carter and the whole fiasco that was unfolding between them all. As she sunk down in one of the many vacant couches that were spread around the spacious room, Della curled up into a ball, her head resting on the armrest of the couch.
Checking the clock on her cell phone, she saw that Cayden was, as usual, late. A frown appeared on her face as she realized that his lateness would give her more time to think about the stupid mishap that took place with Noelle's stupid misleading, but oh so adorable, brother. "Urghhhhh..." She mumbled into the arm of the couch, bashing her head against it a few times in a pathetic attempt to stop from thinking about him.
A few of the students who were sitting around one of the flat screens turned to raise an eyebrow at her, but she really didn't care. Was she really that childish and girly that feelings from years ago could resurface that quickly? It was almost a sin, to get over Dylan and want someone else so quickly, but how was she supposed to control it? Answer: She couldn't. She would just have to get over it, and man up. Maybe grow some balls too, though that would look awful strange once bikini season rolled around.
A soft laugh escaped her lips as she thought about that, shaking her head at how horrible she was at keeping on one specific topic, though in this case it seemed helpful. Tugging at her dress, she stared at the door to the lounge, hoping that her stupid donkeybutt of a brother would hurry up and get there so she could get this 'talk' over with. The sooner she could go mope, the better.

Cayden made his way back from the cafe quickly, stopping by his room for a moment to grab a more comfortable pair of shoes, slipping on his black and white checkered Vans quickly and then scuffling over to the lounge to meet with his sister. On his way, he thought mainly about the whole Noelle and Carter problem, but the thought of his little sister having a boy toy crossed his mind a fair amount too. Why would she have kept something like that from him, they usually told each other everything. Though, to be fair, he had kept his own little summer fling on the DL around her, for the most part because she had a bit of a big mouth and he didn't want to have to deal with the repercussions of that.
Opening the door to the lounge, Cayden blinked a couple of times, his eyes adjusting to the dim lighting that occupied the room. A bunch of other students sat watching some reality show on the flat screen intently, and a handful of them looked up at him unhappily as he interrupted their peaceful television-watching. Shooting them an apologetic smile, he scanned the room briefly for Della, spotting her almost immediately in the corner of the room on a vacant couch. She didn't look very happy, and he wondered what could have caused that. Had other drama occurred in the room, maybe something involving herself and a boy? No, it couldn't be that, the only other boy there had been Sébastien, and he was like a brother to her. There must have been some explanation, maybe she would tell him once he asked about it.
Plodding over to the couch where she sat curled into a ball, he sat down, raising an eyebrow as he saw how tired she looked. "You okay, Del?" He asked softly, not wanting to speak too loudly in case it startled her.

Della heard the door open a few minutes later, and knew right away it had to be Cayden. Finally, that stupid child had decided to show up. Without moving her head from it's spot on the armrest, she waved a hand lazily at him, jumping in surprise as she heard his voice louder than she had expected it. Sitting up a bit more, she leaned her back against the arm of the couch and turned so that she was facing him, wiping underneath her eyes in case her make-up had smudged at all from her daydream/nap/nap-like state. "Hmm?" She asked in response to his question, shaking her head. "No, yes, everything's fine. The important question is, what was so urgent about this meeting that it had to happen now?"
Raising an eyebrow, she grinned, her eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief as she tried to imagine why he rushed to meet with her. "What happened with Noelle?" Della asked, giggling softly as she realized that she probably shouldn't have mentioned that she knew he was with her. Of course, it didn't matter, Cayden was usually oblivious to any comments like that, and she doubted that this time would be any different.

Cayden sighed, of course Della would change the topic to something dealing with him. Shaking his head, he sighed again, pinching his nose with his fingers for a moment to calm himself. "No, nothing like that happened, Del. We just talked." Shaking his head again, he bit his lip momentarily, trying to figure out how he would ask about the boy toy. He finally decided he might as well just say it rather than beat around the bush.
"So Noelle mentioned something earlier about you having a boy toy of sorts. Who is he and why didn't you tell me?" He asked, raising an eyebrow and waiting for a reaction of some sort.

A bright pink blush followed as the smug smile that had adorned her face faded, leaving her to look awfully suspicious to anyone who knew her well enough. "Uhh.... I have no clue what you're referring to, brother dearest." She stated softly, her voice quivering a bit. That was usually a sign that she was lying, though she would never admit it. But wait, how had he heard from Noelle about Sébastien? He had left her room not even half an hour ago. Had he gone straight to her to tell? That didn't seem like the Sébastien thing to do. "No. I have no boy toy." She stated again, looking him straight in the eye. It was true, there was nothing even going on between her and Noelle's brother. It was more of a harmless crush, if anything at all.

Cayden raised an eyebrow skeptically, leaning back against the couch and turning so that he was completely facing Della. "You know you're lying, don't lie to me." He said softly, lacing his fingers together as he waited for some sort of answer. Della seemed to be pondering a few different possibilities for things she could tell him, and he was interested to see which excuse she would end up using.
As he waited, his mind slipped back to thoughts of Noelle and Carter. For some reason, he just couldn't comprehend why Carter would hide those feelings from him, especially when they had been best friends for such a long time. It was just weird. And now to have gotten an IM from someone saying that he had attempted suicide... A shiver ran down Cayden's spine as he thought about that. Was Carter that worked up over Noelle that he would do something stupid like that? None of it made any sense!

Della looked down after Cayden called her out on lying, biting on her tongue as she tried to form some sort of response in her head. What could she say, really? Cayden and Sébastien were best friends, more like brothers than anything. How could she tell him that she liked his best friend, especially when he also happened to be the brother of the girl who had liked Cayden for years now. That didn't make sense. How could she explain it to him without blowing Noelle's secret, unless she told him the whole truth, right from the start.
"Well, you see.." She began, biting her lip momentarily before continuing. "He's not really a 'boy toy' as you put it. I like him, but he seems like the type who doesn't want to commit to anyone, let alone his little sister's friend." Clamping her hand over her mouth as she realized she might have already given it again, Della took a deep breath and then continued. "I mean, he just seems like the type who would enjoy his freedom, and not the type who would like me anyways. He came to my room today though, and that was really confusing, especially when Noelle had told me about his little girlfriend back in France or wherever the heck he was over summer break. And then there's the whole Dylan part of it. I don't want to get caught up with another guy so soon after all of that. You saw how bad I was when we had to leave, what if that happens again?" Della put a hand to her head, leaning back against the arm of the couch and sighing. "I don't understand what I'm supposed to do, Cay. What do you think?"

Cayden sat as she rambled, used to the way Della couldn't stop her mouth from moving once she started up. He cocked his head to the side slightly at her mention of certain phrases, trying to piece together who the hell she was talking about. With a shake of his head, he allowed her to finish speaking, biting on his lower lip as he tried to think of a solution to her problem. "To be honest, Del, I think you shouldn't let yourself get too attached to some new boy this quickly. I mean, thats what happened with you and Dylan, and look where it got you? You were so upset when we had to leave, but you've bounced back. If that happened because of this other boy, I'm grateful, but maybe you should just wait and let it all play out like it's supposed to."
Tilting his head a bit more to the side, he began to sort through the little hints that she had accidentally given him as to who this boy was, a rather confused expression adorning his face as he sorted out the different pieces of the puzzle. French girlfriend, little sister's friend, who the hell was she talking about?! As soon as he asked himself that question, he realized the answer. Sébastien. Noelle's brother. Really? Was that the only person who fit the things she had said? Wow. That was nearly as weird as the Noelle and Carter thing, though Cayden wasn't sure why he found that to be SO weird.. "Really Del, Sébastien? I thought he was like the brother you never had? When did that change?" A teasingly smug smile crossed his face as he saw the blush forming on her face.

Della nodded at his reply, thinking he made a lot of sense with what he had said. It was smart for her to not get too attached too quickly, especially when there was such a small chance that someone as charming and reckless as Sébastien would ever want anything to do with plain old her. Little Della, sweet and peppy. No one wanted that! Even in books, the boys always chased those girls who had the mysterious twinkle in their eyes, the ones who had a mean side and weren't afraid of letting their opinions known, even if it might hurt another person. Della could never live with herself if she did something like that! How on earth was she supposed to win the heart of a boy like that? "You're right, Cayden, I won't get too caught up with thoughts of it. It would be smart to just let it play out bit by bit."
A deep blush swarmed over Della's pale cheeks, causing her to look like a little red strawberry. She knew right off the bat she had said too much, and had thus given away her little secret. Why was she so bad at keeping secrets? It was a surprise to her that Sébastien hadn't figured out a while ago that she had developed a bit of a thing for him. But it had subsided over the years, and was only coming back out now. Why, out of all the times it could have begun to redevelop, had it decided upon now? Stupid fate, karma, whatever you wanted to call it.
"It's nothing, no, you're wrong, I don't like him, he is like a brother, it's just weird now, you know? Like you and Noelle if either of you ever admit to liking each other. I dunno, something just feels different around him now.." She explained, a teasing glint in her eyes as she say the odd expression that had covered Cayden's face at the mention of Noelle. "But it's all good, I'm going to go back to my room. I'll talk to you later, brother. Don't worry about the Carter thing too much." Ruffling his hair, she hopping daintily off of the couch and strolled out of the room, shooting a sympathetic smile to the few who were still in the lounge watching their crappy reality program.
