Derrick walked outside with Kara, still not even sure what was happening. He had never met a girl who could confuse the hell out of him and literally stop his game right in its tracks. She had completely stumped him. Any other girl he would have already made his move and gotten where he wanted to be and he'd know exactly what to do.
Not with her though. No, instead he felt like he was the one being played. Like she was the one making all the moves and he was just the target this time. That didn't feel right to him, but he didn't know what to do. The weirdest part was that he actually was thinking he kind of like it. After walking outside with her he hadn't really said anything, he just had this dumbfounded look on his face trying to understand the situation.

Kara stepped outside, basking in the afternoon sun. She smiled contently and then headed for the quad. She realized that Derrik hadn't said a word and she smiled- not letting him see, of course. She turned around to face him, and saw the dumbfounded expression on his face. He nearly collided with her but when he stopped, she looked up at him, her arms folded.
"Alright, Black. So what were you planning on doing here?"
She said, being serious now. She loved how she was toying with his mind.
"Oh wait, I know. First you would say something ridiculously corny, making me flutter my eyes and such, right? and then you would work your "magic," throw a seductive glance here and there that you just know makes all the girls swoon. Then you would make your move and try to make out with me...."
She looked at him and grinned.
"Am I right?"
She leaned in closer.
"You're just so predictable. The thing with a guy like you is, that, your moves don't work on everyone. Especially me. So you're going to have to work up a new game. Because I'm not buying the old one."
She said, and then pulled back.

"Uh... I don't know..." He really didn't either. She completely caught him off guard. To think a girl actually made him fumble with his words and use the phrase 'I don't know'. That was not how Derrick did things, but he wasn't having much control over the situation. "No...?" He said in a half statement half question when she started to say what she expected him to do. Normally he would have, but she just had him completely beat and looking entirely stupid now.
"I guess... uh... we could just... talk?" He raised an eyebrow giving a very awkward look. There was no way this was what he thought it was. Did he like her? Like... did he really like her like that? No, Derrick didn't get attached. But what if he did? That's what was bothering him so much, because he had never had a girl just confront him and attack him that way before. He still kind of liked it in an odd way though.

For the first time that day, she gave Derrick a genuine smile. After seeing him before, this was the most sincerity she'd ever seen coming from Derrick. Ever. She sighed and looked down.
"Lets start again then."
She said, looking up at him. She started walking beside him and she looked out at the people on the grass, reading or talking. She looked at him as they walked.
"So, what's your story Derrick? There must be something behind that womanizing demeanor of yours."
She said with a teasing smile.

He started walking with her with that dumbfounded look that hadn't really faded yet. Some girls tried to call out to him as he walked, but he didn't even really hear them. He looked up at Kara and thought for a moment. "Well uh... I guess that was just how I was raised. My dad is a retired NFL quarterback... so... I just followed in his footsteps I guess." He really wasn't too sure of his own story, but it made sense to him. He had just never really taken the time to think about it. When he did think about it though, he remembered his parents were divorced and his father was always bringing home a different girl every night, sometimes even two girls. To Derrick it just seemed normal to him.

Kara looked at him, listening intently.
"That makes sense."
She said, nodding her head. Of course our parents had always something to do with how we turn out and it wasn't Derricks fault he was subjected to how his father treated women. Kara was determined to change his views.
"So wait... you're telling me you've never been in a relationship before?"
She asked, a bit shocked.

He looked at her a bit confused as to what she meant by that. "Well I've been with a lot of girls. But if you mean that kind of thing where two people keep saying they love each other... then no." He never really thought about it, nor did he ever really care. That wasn't what he knew. He knew just how to get girls for the things he wanted as far as pleasure for himself, not for anything like love. He had never tried to find love before. Only fun.

Kara nodded.
"I guess we have something in common there."
She said, looking out, past the quad.
"I've had many boyfriends, but I've never said those three words to any one."
She said, looking up at him. She didn't know why she was telling these things to Derrick, he probably didn't even care. Who knows, he was probably staring down her shirt or something, not even paying attention. But something about him made it easy to open up- something Kara never did with just anyone.
"Have you ever at least cared for someone for something other than just sex?"
She asked him, boring her emerald eyes into his.

He was kind of surprised that she thought they had something in common like that. He just stared ahead as they walked trying to regain control of his thoughts. He only wished now that things were going a bit different, because for once, Derrick actually felt a bit uncomfortable. Mainly because this was something totally different than what he was used to. At her next question he looked at her and shook his head. "No..." He hadn't either. No one ever caught his attention like that before.

Kara shook her head and then looked straight ahead again.
"Thats kind of sad."
She admitted out loud. Kara always spoke the truth.
"So I guess I'm your first actual date, one where you know we're not hooking up later on or anything... which we're not."
She added, looking at him, smiling. She looked away, and they continued walking.

When she said they were on an actual date he was a bit surprised. He looked at her for a moment and didn't say anything. "So... that means... you're actually thinking of dating me?" He wasn't too sure if she was just toying with him or if she was serious. He was definitely curious now, and actually a bit worried. He had never been with a girl in that way. He had never done the actual boyfriend girlfriend thing, and wasn't really sure if he should or not. He thought about just leaving now, but then decided to stay to see what happened.

"I don't know. It depends."
She said, looking at him.
"It depends if you're willing, and if you stop being a total tool."
She said, smiling. She could see Channing House in the distance and knew they were nearing the end of their walk.

He raised an eyebrow and wasn't sure what he should do now. She was definitely attractive, so that had his attention from the start. She was also very pushy, and that kind of had him interested too. "Well... I suppose I could give it a try..." He wasn't too sure about it himself, but he could always at least try.

Kara cracked a grin.
"I'm glad you finally came to your senses."
She said as they neared Channing. She started walking ahead and turned her head.
"So I guess I'll see you around, maybe."
She said, and smiled, walking away. She wasn't going out with Derrick Black any time soon, but she was glad she had this talk with him. At least she now knew he had somewhat of a brain underneath that thick skull of his.

He watched her walk of to Channing, and once she disappeared behind the doors he let out a large sigh. What the hell was he getting himself into. He put his hands in his pocket and started walking away looking at the ground now. He wasn't sure what to think of all of this.
